Two charged after Hopetoun Park home invasion

Melbourne Oct 13 (TIE)Police have charged two men following a home invasion in Hopetoun Park yesterday.

Police were called to reports two men had allegedly threatened a man on the street with a knife before entering a home on Parkside Drive about 8.15am on Tuesday, 12 October.

It is alleged one of the men struck the occupant of the home, a 40-year-old man, with an object before fleeing.

One of offenders allegedly fled the scene in the victim’s gold Toyota 4WD and the other in a white Toyota 4WD they arrived in.

The driver of the gold Toyota, a 20-year-old Mooroolbark man, was arrested after the vehicle got stuck in a ditch on Gisborne – Melton Road in Toolern Vale about 9am.

The driver of the white Toyota, a 20-year-old Strathdale man, was arrested after a police pursuit ended in a collision with a civilian vehicle at the intersection of Plumpton and Diggers Rest-Coimadai roads in Diggers Rest about 10am.

The driver of the civilian vehicle, a 31-year-old Sunbury man, was uninjured.

Both men have been charged with over 25 offences including aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, home invasion with occupant assaulted and conduct endangering life.

The pair were held overnight and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
