Public appeal after attempted armed robbery at Altona milk bar

March 24,Preston (TIE)Detectives from the Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit are hoping to identify a man atter an attempted armed robbery at a milk bar in Altona last month.

An unknown man entered the Somers Parade business about 7.10pm on Saturday, 26 February.

Investigators have been told the man armed himself with a hammer and threatened a staff member before making demands for cash.

He then fled on foot after being chased out by the staff member.

He was last seen running west on Somers Parade towards Curlew Avenue.

The staff member was not physically injured during the incident.

Investigators have released CCTV footage of a man who they believe can assist with their investigation.

He is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, about 180cm tall with a medium build.

He was wearing a black Puma hoodie, black shorts, dark coloured Nike TN runners and concealed his face with sunglasses and a surgical mask.
