Preston 7 May,2022(TIE)  Queen Elizabeth II knighted the Australian chief executive of pharmaceuticals giant AstraZeneca for leading the global response to the Covid-19s pandemic.

During the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2022, Pascal Soriot was awarded a British knighthood for services to UK life sciences and leadership in the Covid problem.

Mr Soriot said he had never expected the Queen to bestow such a high honour on him.

AstraZeneca has distributed three billion vaccines to 180 countries, with two-thirds of those vaccines going to low- and lower-middle-income countries.

Mr Soriot’s efforts in Australia have resulted in the vaccination of almost seven million Australians against Covid.

Mr. Soriot is involved in a global drive for sustainable healthcare in addition to his function as chief.

He has pledged to plant 25 million trees in Australia to help the country recover from bushfires, floods, and drought, with the goal of turning the UK-based AstraZeneca corporation carbon zero within three years.
