Melbourne, Dec 5 . A Melbourne teenager’s desperate plea for help after her father allegedly attacked her family with a tomahawk, killing her mother, has been captured in chilling CCTV footage.

The 16-year-old was caught on a neighbour’s security camera just before midnight on Saturday, begging for help, Seven News reported.

“Please, please, please, please, please, please!” the girl screamed as she pounded on the front door of the Sandhurst home in the city’s southeast.

Her father Dinush Kurera is accused of attacking the teen before allegedly turning the tomahawk on her brother, stabbing him in the neck, and then her mum, Nelomie Perera.

Managing to escape, the 16-year-old frantically fled to Paul Vavitas’s house where a woman answered the door.

“We’re coming, we’re coming,” the female neighbour told the teen, before the girl cried, “she’s dead, I’m pretty sure she’s dead”.

As the woman phones police, Mr Vavitas can be seen running out of the door and sprinting away.

“[It was] just instinct,” he told Seven News, clearly distraught. “First thing to do, try to help.. it was all locked up.. Trying to do something.. No time.”

By the time emergency services arrived at the family home, the 43-year-old woman and mother of three had died.

Her son was rushed to hospital with head injuries and underwent emergency surgery on Sunday. He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Mr Kurera, 45, has been charged with one count of murder. He faced court on Sunday and didn’t apply for bail. He’ll reappear in April.
