Bali, Nov 17 . The meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the G20  Summit in Bali brought good news of his first visit to India in March 2023.

“There are many steps yet to take. We will cooperate where we can, disagree where we must, and engage in our national interest,” he added

While meeting Indian PM Narendra Modi, Mr Albanese delighted Mr Modi by greeting him as “prime minister and president” – a reference to the fact that Indonesia had just formally passed on the G20 presidency baton to India. Both Leaders underlined their satisfaction with the excellent status of the bilateral relations under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the regular basis high-level meetings between Australia and India.

The deepened cooperation was reviewed across a diverse range of sectors, including defence, trade, education, clean energy and people-to-people ties. Institutional partnership in the field of education, especially in higher education, vocational education, training and capacity building was discussed.

The also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, which included their shared vision for a stable and peaceful Indo-Pacific Region, climate-related matters and India’s G20 Presidency.

Indian PM Modi is also scheduled to visit Australia to attend the 2023 QUAD Summit sometime in February next year.
