Reservoir 11 May 2023(TIE)The Yarra City Council has proposed reducing the speed limit to 30km/h in all suburban streets to address road safety concerns.
The initiative is aimed at reducing the number of accidents and creating safer streets for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike. If the proposal is approved, Yarra will become the first municipality in Melbourne to implement such a measure.
The council believes the reduction in speed limits will encourage drivers to take greater care on the roads and reduce the severity of accidents if they occur. The proposal is now open for public feedback.
