Police charge men after South Melbourne armed robbery

Victoria, 12 Nov . Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two men following an armed robbery which occurred in South Melbourne last week.

It is alleged two men entered a depot on Market Street, South Melbourne about 1.45pm on 4 November.

The men approached a delivery driver and threatened him with a knife before stealing a number of packages and leaving.

Fortunately the driver was not injured during the incident.

Detectives made a number of enquires and on Thursday 10 November executed a warrant at an apartment block on Coventry Street, Southbank.

They arrested a 21-year-old man from Southbank and a 37-year-old man.

The 21-year-old was charged with armed robbery, aggravated burglary and assault with a weapon and was remanded by the court to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 2 February, 2023.

The 37-year-old man was charged with aggravated burglary, theft and deceptions and was remanded by court to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 17 November, 2022.
