Preston Dec16(TIE)Westgate Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigations Team investigators are appealing for a witness to come forward following a reported sexual assault in Braybrook this month.
Investigators have been told a 34-year-old woman was walking along Skinner Reserve when she was approached by an unknown male about 6.30pm on Thursday, 9 December.
The male sexually assaulted her before running away.
A man who was exiting a taxi on Adamson Street observed the incident and chased after the offender.
Investigators are appealing for that witness to come forward so they can assist with the investigation.
Detectives are also hoping to identify the male involved in the incident, who is perceived to be African in appearance, aged in his teens, about 160cm tall, with short black cornrow-style hair.
He was wearing a light grey jumpsuit with neon green highlights at the time.
