Two men have been charged over the suspicious disappearance and alleged murder of a Melbourne forklift driver as experts seek to formally identify the human remains discovered on Friday.

Missing persons squad detectives arrested a Hampton Park man, 30, and Noble Park man, 49, on Friday morning over 32-year-old Brendon Farrell’s disappearance from his Doveton home on May 31.

On Saturday afternoon, the Hampton Park man was charged with murder, while the Noble Park man was charged with accessory to murder.

Both men were expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday afternoon.

A crime scene was established at a Noble Park address on Friday night after human remains were found, with a post mortem expected to be carried out on Saturday.

Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill said the investigation was ongoing.

“We encourage anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to police to come forward,” he said.

“Our thoughts are with Brendon’s family and loved ones following what has no doubt been a very difficult and traumatic few weeks.”

Earlier this week, police scoured parkland in Cranbourne in an effort to find Mr Farrell.

He was last seen by a friend about 12.30pm on Monday, 31 May, at his home address on Kidds Road, Doveton.

His disappearance was considered out of character and family members subsequently reported him missing to police on June 2.

Detectives have previously suggested a “significant violent event” involving weapons took place at the Kidds Road address the same day Mr Farrell disappeared.
